Absolutely the best scoop coater on the planet!
A must-have tool for coating all direct liquid emulsions. Applies a smooth even coat of emulsion. Designed for easy grip, application, and cleanup.
Made of durable aluminum with plastic end cap guides. Comes standard with a plastic protective sleeve to avoid banging up the application edges.
Dual edge (both thick and thin) design permits coating emulsion thicker or thinner on the screen. Thinner coats are usually desirable on higher mesh count (200 and above) for half-tones and finer detail like 4-color process where thicker coats are usually used for spot color on lower mesh counts (below 200).
Sizing notes:
Hat and small screens = 4" scoop coater
Manual press screens (20" x 24" OD) = 16" scoop coater
Automatic press screens (23" x 31" OD) = 19" scoop coater
Screens are usually measured by thier outside dimensions and there is usually about 4 inches of frame and mesh that should not be coated to allow for the mesh to stretch (off-contact) while printing. Coating should be performed with a scoop coater wide enough to cover the entire emulsion width in one pass. Most screenmakers, use a 2 coats of emulsion, one over the top of the other, on the substrate (shirt side) of the screen and then flip it over and give 1 more coat on the ink side.
